I’ve come up with what I think is a great solution to the current problem of massively backlogged VA claims that keeps getting worse. I started a petition on the White House petition site. It needs 150 signatures before it can become publicly visible on the site.
Here’s my idea:
Why not put a bunch of unemployed vets to work temporarily and having them help the full-time VA employees charged with processing these claims until the backlog gets under control?
This would give jobless vets meaningful work and perhaps some training, improve their chances of getting a long-term job, and assist tens of thousands of vets whose claims for medical treatment and other benefits are languishing under a massive workload that is obviously too big for the VA as presently staffed to handle.
